I’m Doing A Workshop!! In Texas! At Vintage Round Top!!

I'm Doing A Workshop!! In Texas! At Vintage Round Top!! - offbeat + inspired

I’ve only done one workshop before in my life. It was in Cincinnati a couple years ago with Anna Liesemeyer (In Honor of Design), and it was WONDERFUL! I really didn’t know what to expect, but I ended up loving it so much. Workshops come in all shapes and sizes, but the focus of my segment was on finding your social media “voice”. A few stories and laughs later, I did a table styling demonstration followed by an iPhoneography/editing tutorial! I’ll be covering the same bases at my Vintage Round Top workshop, and I’m SO excited to be co-hosting with Travis of Manready Mercantile! Oh, and there will be goodies. Does anyone love Philosophy? ;)

There are only a few spots left, so reserve yours HERE! I really REALLY hope to see you! Oh and I found out Jana (Vintage Whites) is going to be there, so I’m basically beside myself. She is one of my favorites in the universe. JUST ANOTHER REASON FOR YOU GUYS TO COME!!

Date: Wednesday, March 30th from 9:30AM-noon!

Location: The Vintage Round Top, 1450 N. Hwy 237, Round Top, Texas 78954

And if you really can’t make it, I’ll try to understand. But at least follow the adventure on Instagram! :D

A Subscription Box for Foodies + Adventurers THAT I LOVE!

A Subscription Box for Foodies + Adventurers THAT I LOVE! - offbeat + inspired

I posted last month on Instagram about THE COOLEST foodie subscription box I’ve ever tried. It’s called Hole In Wall Box and here’s why it’s my new favorite:

1. (literally my number 1 reason..) Each box is like an edible/sniffable city guide. The contents are sourced entirely from the featured city, and when you’re done tearing through the box, it feels like you’ve actually been there. I absolutely LOVE this and it’s why this subscription is so unique! I got to try the “San Diego” box. A city I’ve never visited, but now I really feel like I know it better. And when I DO visit, I know exactly where to explore first!

2. The items in the box are well curated and very high quality. Jeremy and William (co-founders) are avid travelers themselves, and have a passion for exploring the little-known, often overlooked “holes in the wall” in cities all over the world. These are the ones that are celebrated in each box.

3. There’s a new city every other month, and your input is SUPER valuable. If there’s a city you’d like them to feature, TELL THEM! They’ll probably end up doing it!

The stuff inside was so good, I ate half of it before I got a chance to snap a photo. THAT’S A GOOD SIGN.

So if you need more of this kinda thing in your life, subscribe and check out the current/upcoming cities!

You can also follow Hole In Wall Box on Instagram and Facebook!

Tell me what you think!! Which city would you like to see them box up and deliver to your doorstep next??

Nashville Exploring + the Warmest Winter EVER with Brooklyn Bicycle Co.

Nashville Exploring + the Warmest Winter EVER with Brooklyn Bicycle Co. - offbeat + inspired

Back home, I always considered “the north” to be EXTREME north. Basically the Canadian border. It’s lake-effect snow, sub-zero winters, local skiing, maple syrup fresh from the tree and basically any scene from Fargo. Living in Nashville, I’m learning that “the north” means anything upwards of Tennessee, where it’s not uncommon to cut down your Christmas tree in a t-shirt. And I’m kinda torn.

Campfires, Cocoa + Minnetonkas

Campfires, Cocoa + Minnetonkas - offbeat + inspired

This is definitely one of my favorite combinations in the world…campfires, the outdoors, hot chocolate, cozy clothes, sunsets and good friends. Simple, magical, and getting to feel adventurous right in the backyard. This was such a welcome retreat from the craziness that is November/December. The holidays seriously snuck up on me this year! I’ve been so busy settling into Nashville that when I finally came up for air, it was Thanksgiving week! And now Christmas is right around the corner. It’s ok though, campfires like this one will be my reality check - all is right with the world when you’ve got sweet ones to share life with and a good pair of shoes.

RiSE Festival + Letting Go

RiSE Festival + Letting Go - offbeat + inspired

I woke up before sunrise to catch an early flight out of Nashville with Kappel. I couldn’t believe we were only hours away from the Mojave Desert and only a day away from RiSE. I took a big (for me) leap a little over a month ago and shared on Free People’s blog about the struggle to find my identity through anxiety issues, miscarriage, divorce and eventually freedom and healing. I had a lot to release, and what I ended up experiencing was beyond anything I could have imagined.

Dreaming of Salted Cocoa Nutella Cupcakes in Tulum!

Salted Cocoa Nutella Cupcakes - offbeat + inspired

I’m in Tulum right now and I can’t even begin to describe how surreal it is. Mexico, for most of my life, had been this intangible exotic thing that I celebrated subtly with a love for taco trucks and simple margaritas. Now I’m in a city where there’s a mezcal bar every ten feet and the best tacos I’ve ever had in my life are being slung on every corner for about 40 cents a pop. I’ve also learned that swimming pools, lakes and oceans do not hold a CANDLE to cenotes when it comes to a day of swimming.

My First Trip to Miami!

My First Trip to Miami! - offbeat + inspired

Well it’s been FOREVER since I posted and I’m really sad about it!! I’m still alive!! The short story: I’m moving to a new city (more on that soon! :O), I’m at a new workspace, I’ve been taking on new projects, it’s been a total whirlwind! Sarah shared her big announcement a few weeks ago and it’s such a bittersweet thing, but we’re both so excited to continue sharing our life adventures with new perspectives (her new blog!), new inspiration and LOTS of recipes. So I’ll just jump right in. My most recent adventure/project is what I’m sharing today…my first trip to Miami (what? why had I never?) on a SUPERFUN collab with Starwood Hotels.

A Jackson Hole Journey + Adventure-Style Cocoa

A Jackson Hole Journey + Adventure-Style Cocoa - offbeat + inspired

One of the most beautiful and awe-inspiring adventures I’ve ever been on happened about 2 months ago in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

Before I get into all the details, watch this highlight video! (I am SO excited to share this with you guys…)

How it all came together is kind of surreal, so I’ll try to keep that part brief without leaving anything out. The Jeep brand had been on the hunt for a few social media influencers to bring out to Jackson Hole to experience the mountains and the community, all from behind the wheel of the new Jeep Grand Cherokee EcoDiesel. Of course they wanted us to get to know the vehicle itself, but the whole thing was supposed to be more about an adventure. One that created memories and stories — the kind we would take with us and share over and over again. So when they initially reached out to me and asked what things I would anticipate doing in a setting like the Grand Tetons, this was me.

In that moment, I dreamed up my ideal visit to Jackson Hole.

Homemade Butterbeer + A Trip to the Wizarding World

Homemade Butterbeer + A Trip to the Wizarding World - offbeat + inspired

Confession! I was SUPER late to the Harry Potter party. When the movies first came out, I was actually kind of annoyed by all the hype. I refused to see them in theaters and avoided family movie nights once they were out on DVD. I couldn’t even put my finger on why I was so against HP because I had no idea what the story was even about. But after all the buzz died down, I watched the first one…and was hooked.

All of my siblings love Harry Potter, so watching with them was a lot of fun. There’s so much to love about the story, the characters, the entire world they created. Before I digress into all the spiritual and philosophical parallels that really get me going, I’ll skip to the part where I got to visit Universal Orlando’s “Wizarding World of Harry Potter“, and experienced the BUTTERBEER. Cue heavens opening, angels singing…

Lexington Love | A Taste of France at Le Deauville

Lexington Love | A Taste of France at Le Deauville - offbeat + inspired

Visiting Paris has been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember. Seeing Julie & Julia for the first time dug the well a little deeper, but the thing that pushed me over the edge into trip planning mode was moving to Lexington, Kentucky. It’s not a coincidence that two of the three “Lexington Love” posts I’ve done so far have been about French/European-inspired eateries. There’s an atmosphere and an old-world charm built into a French crafted experience that just can’t be matched. Dozens of restaurants in this city have phenomenal food, trendy interior design, friendly hosts and personality that instantly turns first-timers into regulars — but Le Deauville French Bistro at 199 North Limestone makes you believe you’re actually in France.
